Hello everyone!
We at the Wolf Group have been exceptionally busy, but I am hoping to have these journals out at least every month or so.
AWARENESS & OTHER PROMOTIONS If you have something to "howl" about or want to raise awareness, please note the group and a group leader will answer your inquiry. Thanks!
** We currently are not featuring individual deviants.
MEXICAN GRAY WOLF AWARENESSCourtesy of;
DepthsOfDestruction The Mexican Wolf is seriously endangered. It is extinct in the wild, there are not even 100 wolves fit for getting back into the nature.
Because of this, I made a photo manipulation to raise awareness.
[link]I wrote it in the description, but I am going to repeat my wish again:

Download the Picture and copy the description (with the links, of course)

Upload the picture again (with the copied description in use)

Additional note: * There are roughly 70 wild Mexican gray wolves compared to almost 300 animals in captivity. Currently, Mexican grays face the issue of a non-diverse gene pool in the wild, potential human or disease conflict, and the risk of hybridization with dogs (though there have only been isolated cases in the past decade.) Unlike gray wolves, which chalk up a whopping 9,000 or so in the United States ALONE, Mexican gray wolves are confined to an extremely small population that will eventually decline if not helped properly. Please, instead of turning your attention to the gray wolf species or its coyote counterpart (the red "wolf"), please focus instead on the Mexican gray wolf subspecies.
WRITING CONTEST HOSTED BY WEREWRITERSCourtesy of;
Moonlit-Rebel & LucarioWolf5 I'm an admin over at Werewriters and next Thursday we are going to be announcing a massive year long tournament style writing contest. We will be posting a journal on Thursday explaining everything but basically we will give everyone a few weeks to sign up and it is set like a regular tournament. We will break contestants into different groups and then paired off,each month we will issue a subject and the best of the two paired contestants advances to the next round. For a prize will have a donation pool going and also offer the winner a years subscription. Hopefully we will have enough people to last it till December, and the last person standing will get the pot!

MISCDID YOU KNOW?#1 - “Alpha” and the like (beta, omega, etc.) are inaccurate terms to describe wild wolves, as their is little social hierarchy. Packs typically consist of a breeding pair and their offspring; it is rare for an unrelated animal to be accepted and the offspring are more likely to disperse and start families of their own rather than challenge their parents so that fufill their own needs and prevent potential inbreeding. The terms more accurately apply to captive wolf packs, where the animals experience different social, environmental, and familial factors that all effect and contribute to the difference in social hierarchy. In general, displays for dominance are rare.
