Stripey's Backstory Chap. 8 Chapter 8Stripey's Backstory Chap. 8 by SunfurTheWolf
Stripey hopped over the stream and headed deep into the forest. He had already decided that he was going to catch some real meat, hopefully a deer, to eat with his mother before his trip. “I wonder if there will be more wolves out in this territory I’m going to have to travel through. Maybe I’ll meet someone who knows more about this cooking process the cure went through and how long Momma had before her foot became really bad.” Stripey pondered as he trekked through the forest with his nose and ears alert. He and his mother had discussed more about the rhyme last night around the middle of the night. His mother had woken and Stripey had heard her shifting around in her sleeping spot. He had awoken and asked her what was wrong. “I’m sorry Stripes, I was thinking about the cure.
It never said how to ‘cook’ this cure, and how lo

As Stripey got closer to the den he heard the gentle breathing of Fern. Stripey trotted slowly into the den to see his mother asleep on her sleeping spot. Stripey crouched down to the ground and rolled over slightly so the buck slid off his back. Fern shifted in her sleep and Stripey looked over at her. He trotted over to his mother and gently pressed his nose into her neck whispering to her, “Momma, it’s time to get up, I brought some real meat for breakfast. I hunted down a huge buck in the forest. It must weigh the same as two wolves.” Fern stirred in her sleep and finally woke up and looked at Stripey. “Did you say you brought back a buck? How did you find something so big?” Stripey scuffed the ground with his paw and said to his mother, “I just headed deep into the forest and found it.” Fern licked his nose in thanks and shakily stood up from her sleeping spot. Stripey guided her over to the buck and lay down on the ground
Stripey's Backstory Chap. 5 Chapter 5Stripey's Backstory Chap. 5 by SunfurTheWolf
Stripey woke the next morning stretching, his aching muscles screaming with protest. He then looked over at his mother who was still sleeping. As Stripey yawned and stretched again he realized he was very hungry. “I guess I’ll go out and hunt. I better do it quietly or I’ll wake Momma.” Stripey headed out of the den and headed towards the river, hoping to catch some trout that his mother seemed to love so much. As he got towards the river he noticed that the water was slightly foaming. As Stripey go closer he noticed a strange oily, meaty smell coming from the river. Excited, Stripey ran the last few tail-lengths to the river, skidding to a halt just before he fell in. Just then he had a thought, “Wait, I don’t know how to fish yet. I guess I’ll just have to try.” Stripey positioned himself at the edge of the river remembering one evening when his mother had fished for them. He tried to position his paw in a scoop shape li

“My paw isn’t getting any better; in fact it’s getting worse. I wasn’t completely honest about my paw, I did turn it on a tree root but that’s not what hurt it so badly. The Lynx bit my paw when I was running away with the deer. When I told you about the Lynx I left something out so you wouldn’t be too worried about me. The Lynx’s bite is poisonous, but the poison takes a while to take effect. I thought maybe my paw would heal on its own but I realize I forgot something else. When I was just a pup my mother told me a story of a giant Lynx, the one you and I met. I didn’t believe it at the time. But there was a rhyme that went into the story, a rhyme about a cure. This cure was most likely a cure to the Lynx’s bite. The rhyme went like this, ‘To thee who was bitten by the beast must then travel to its den in the east. To a remedy there goes pelt from the biggest of them all, and a fang from the maw of the one mo
